Side is a small busy waterfront resort town on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast, an ancient port, known for its long sandy beaches and Greco-Roman ruins. Built in the middle of the ancient Pamphylian city with origins dating back to the 7th century AD, Side is considered to be one of the world’s most notable archaeological sites, Side’s historic monuments of Greek and Roman descent are countless and include the huge well-preserved Side amphitheatre which has the capacity to seat up to 15,000 spectators and is still used today to host musical and theatre performances. The ruins of Temple of Apollo are a must visit and provide the perfect spot for a romantic photo at sunset. Situated in a restored Roman Bath your find the Side Museum where you can learn about the history of this incredible region.

Side has a buzzing touristy bazaar area winding through the old town district that leads to harbour front area where you will find chic boutiques, lively bars and waterfront restaurants serving tantalising Turkish cuisine as well as fresh seafood.

On either side of the old town there is two magnificent beaches with soft golden sands, lined with holiday resorts the Western beach is the most popular with its calm shallow waters it is perfect for families and water sport lovers whilst Eastern beach is a wind swept stretch of sand that is quieter as the archaeological ruins beneath the sand dunes mean that the area is protected from development.
