Mellieha

Mellieha is home to the largest sandy beach in Malta, a beautiful stretch of bay surrounded by a multitude of hotels, bars and restaurants offering all the facilities you need. The sandy beach is of course the main attraction and provides a perfect beach holiday destination. You will find water sports activities and a range of entertainment for all and there are a variety of accommodations to choose from including top all-inclusive hotels, low budget, mid-range, boutique hotels and self-catering accommodation.

The town of Mellieha is located at the top of a hill, quite a steep hill, so anyone with mobility difficulties we would recommend a hotel on the seafront, although the regular bus services that pass through are quite used to taking passengers on the short trip up and down.

The town has a number of bars and evening entertainment to choose from, have a glass of wine in a laid-back atmosphere, sip a cocktail while taking in the breath-taking views or hit the karaoke. Mellieha is not known as the party town or nightlife hub of Malta, but it does offer up some fun nights.

There is plenty to see and do on your Mellieha Holiday, if you want a break from the beach you can shop, visit the parish church, the cave chapel (suggested to be established as early as 409AD), you can take a tour in the air raid shelter through the tunnels dug into the cliff side, venture into the natural surrounding area, head to Popeye’s Village (the film set from the 1970’s film Popeye starring Robin Williams which is now a family attraction) or if you time it right and stay during the first week of September you will be there for the village feast. On the 8^{th of} September, it is the ‘feast of the Nativity of Our Lady’; ceremonies, food and drink, fireworks and musical performances can be seen during the week as the whole town celebrates.
