Meet Your Bridge Director - Tim Chanter (Grand Master)

We are delighted to welcome Tim Chanter as a core member of the YourHolidays bridge team — a highly accomplished bridge teacher, Grand Master and much-loved mentor whose warmth, clarity and teaching experience have made him a firm favourite with players of all levels.

Tim first learned the game as a child and left his city career in 2013 to follow his passion for bridge full-time. Since then, he has taught extensively at Richmond, Wimbledon and Roehampton Bridge Clubs, and is now based in Northumberland, where he teaches both in-person and online. His students range from absolute beginners to advanced players preparing for tournament play.

Tim received an “Outstanding” rating in his English Bridge Union Teachers Association (EBUTA) appraisal, and regularly receives glowing feedback from students:

“Tim is a top-class bridge player who also knows how to teach. His sessions are logical, engaging, and crystal clear — and his manner is relaxed, warm and full of good humour.”

A Grand Master since 2019, Tim is also ranked a “King” (K) in the EBU’s National Grading Scheme — placing him in the top 5% of players nationally. He brings not just experience, but energy and empathy to his teaching.

Tim has introduced many innovations in bridge education, including two popular online learning sessions: “Well, I Do Declare” and “Counsel for the Defence”, which run fortnightly and have helped many players improve their technique in a fun and accessible way.
