WHY VISIT CALA BONA

With its laid-back atmosphere and sandy beaches this once sleepy fishing village has transferred into a have it all resort for families and couples alike.

Cala Bona isn’t a boisterous resort, so you won’t find neon lights and late-night clubs. What you will get is leisurely meals at the harbourfront restaurants and cocktails overlooking the sea. Quiz nights and karaoke count as lively here although just a 15-minute walk away is Cala Millor which will bring you pacier clubs and discos.

You’re just 20 minutes’ drive from one of Majorca’s biggest tourists draws, the famous Caves of Drach. Here, you can see colourful stalagmites and stalactites and take in a concert at one of the world’s biggest underground lakes. And even closer, just outside the resort, there’s the Punta de n’Amer nature reserve the dunes and pine forests are perfect for walks.

There’s lots to do away from the beach, whether you want to go on a boat trip, try scuba diving or explore some of Majorca’s fascinating caves. Hire a car to go and visit some of the east coast’s pretty little fishing villages or treat the kids to a fun-filled day at Alcudia’s water park, which is less than an hour’s drive away. If you’ve always wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride, you can do this in Cala Bona too.
